About

Club Overview

The Australian Capital Territory Scale Modellers Society (ACTSMS) encourages the hobby of building or collecting scale models.

The society welcomes new members of all ages and skill levels and aims to provide a friendly and welcoming environment where members can learn from each other and improve the quality of our modelling and the shared enjoyment of of our hobby.

The Society was formed in 1972, making this year our 50th anniversary, so we must be doing something right! :-)

We typically meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the Hellenic Club in Woden – but do please check the Calendar as meetings can vary a bit!

Meetings start at 7.30 PM, but many members choose to arrive earlier to have dinner and socialise beforehand.

An average meeting normally involves: society business, tea break, the night’s planned activity, the model competition and a raffle. We often have special guest speakers who give presentations on a range of topics of interest to scale modellers. Given that an average of 70 to 80 per cent of our members show up at each of our meetings we feel that this format has proven to be a successful one.

We normally have tables set up so that members can bring in reference materials, model work in progress and new kits and products. We encourage all our members to support this concept and bring along your books and kits – made or unmade! It is especially good to see models as they progress to completion as well as those new kits that you cannot get a look at in the shops because they are wrapped in plastic.

Our regular monthly meetings are held at the Hellenic Club, Woden on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month - but please CHECK the Calendar for details!

We also meet at the Holt Community Centre on four weekends of the year.
