Overview:

Join fellow modellers for a hands-on weekend of workshops, skill-building, and social modelling. Open to everyone (not limited to ACTSMS financial members). Spots are strictly limited to 40 participants to ensure a high instructor-to-student ratio. Register early to avoid disappointment.

When and where:

• Time: 6:00 PM Friday 10 July – 5:00 PM Sunday 12 July 2026

• Location: Greenhills Centre, near Canberra CBD (approx. 20 minutes). More about the venue: www.greenhillscentre.org.au

• Easy drive from Canberra with plenty of travel options and parking available.

Presenters & workshops:

• Calvin Tan — Figure painting using AK Speed Painter paints; fast techniques for impressive results.

• Clayton Ockerby — Practical weathering methods you can apply across projects.

• Lukas Kasuba — Basics of scratch-building a small building wall and base; presentation and diorama skills.

• Skill level: suitable for all levels (beginners to experienced).

Format:

• Small-group, instructor-led sessions during the day; evening social modelling, open-bench time and a campfire (weather permitting).

• Workshop group sizes will not exceed 20 persons.

• All meals included (dinner, lunch, breakfast plus light refreshments).

Accommodation:

• Shared rooms (4-bed or 6-bed) with ensuite bathrooms.

• When you pay your deposit you can nominate who you wish to bunk with.

Cost & deposit:

• Total cost: $504.90 per person (includes tuition, materials, meals, accommodation and a take-home goodie pack).

• Non-refundable deposit: $249.50, due by 11 June 2026 (or when places run out) to secure your place.

• We are running this at-cost; any remaining funds after final invoices will be returned evenly to participants.

Health & safety:

• First-aid qualified personnel will be in attendance and first-aid equipment and an automated external defibrillator (AED) will be available onsite.

• Please advise any medical conditions or special needs at registration.

Alcohol and conduct

• Alcohol permitted in the evenings. Please drink responsibly and be considerate of other guests.

• Respectful behaviour required at all times.

• Payment is taken through Square, the world's most secure online payment tool. The ACTSMS does not receive or keep any of your financial details. It is like using PayPal with the same safety mechanisms.
