Gundam & Mecha

Due to the increased number of Gundam entries over the past few years, we have added the following specialised categories for ScaleACT-23;

Category 33: Gundam, Straight Build

Category 34: Gundam, Repaint

Category 35: Gundam, Custom

Category 36: Mecha

The category rules are as follows:

Any Grades can be used, as long as it stays in the Gundam universe, and is not counterfeit.
Any painting of the model is forbidden, except for the panel lining process.
Sanding is allowed to conceal and remove nub marks.
Weathering/ battle damage is prohibited.
Any modifications to the kit, which includes metal parts, scribing, pla-plates, 3D printed parts, and resin parts are prohibited.
Puttying, filling, and seam line removal are prohibited.
Scratch building is prohibited.
Kitbashing is prohibited.
Top coating of the kit is allowed, but will not bring any bonuses.
Water decals/ third party decals are allowed, but will not bring any bonuses
A custom base/ diorama scene is allowed, but will not bring any bonuses

FULL RESIN KITS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Entries must have a minimum BANDAI inner frame/ base kit to qualify.

This category has been added due to the increasing popularity of Zoids, Transformers kits etc, which would be out of place if put in the sci-fi category, alongside Star Wars or Macross kits.
Mecha category will open up other unique entries for third-party "Gundam-like" kits, that are not Gundams but not sci-fi as well. A good example of this is the Zero Gravity Judge model kit.
Full resin Gundam kits should be entered into the Mecha category. The reason for this is because they do not use a BANDAI inner frame, and thus do not fit the "Gundam" category even though it may be a full resin rendition of a Gundam kit.
