Categories

ScaleACT-10 introduces fixed Categories.

For ScaleACT-10, we have adopted a set of fixed competition categories!

In the past, we've established categories based on the entries which have turned up on the day, this was a good system, but created a lot of extra work for the judging and administration team... so for ScaleACT-10, we will use the following list of categories.

ScaleACT-10 Competition Categories

  • Aircraft: WW1: Small scale.
  • Aircraft: WW1: Large scale.
  • Aircraft: Between the Wars.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Allied single engine. Small scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Allied single engine. Large scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Allied multi engine. Small scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Allied multi engine. Large scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Axis single engine. Small scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Axis single engine. Large scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Axis multi engine. Small scale.
  • Aircraft: WW2: Axis multi engine. Large scale.
  • Aircraft: Post War: Military. Small scale.
  • Aircraft: Post War: Military. Large scale.
  • Aircraft: Post War: Civilian. Single engine.
  • Aircraft: Post War: Civilian. Multi engine.
  • Aircraft: Rotary Wing.
  • AFV: Pre WW2.
  • AFV: WW2: Allied. Small scale.

* Note, we are not running the sometimes confusing categories of Diorama or Vignette this year, but have replaced them with a more general category; 'Scenic composition - Simple / Complex'... gone is the confusion about whether an entry is 'telling a story' or not... we will categorise an entry on the scope of the presentation... if you are not sure where your entry falls, talk to us on the day and we'll work it out together :-)

** Young Guns may choose to enter the special category for Youth, or the main competition categories.

Note: This list is not final and may change on the day.


Special Competitions
In addition to the above categories, the following special competitions are judged.

  • The Kittyhawk Cup
  • The Sentinel Shield
  • The Maritime Medal

Please note the following guidelines;

  • For a competition category to be valid, there must be a minimum of 3 entries submitted by a minimum of 2 entrants.
  • Categories not meeting these requirements won't run and any entries will be reassigned to an appropriate category.
  • Aircraft, "Small" is 1/72 or smaller & "Large" is 1/48 or larger.
  • Vehicles, "Small" is 1/72 or smaller, "Medium" is 1/48 & "Large" is 1/35 or larger.
