Mike Stynes - MTM Barchino

Congrats to every one that posted at successful blitz result  today.

After a few distractions the MTM Barchino speed boat didn't quite make it to the painting stage. The rotten carpet monster claimed a couple of important pieces so Sunday pm was spent scrathbuilding
replacement parts.  The boat is currently in finished sub-assemblies and will make an appearance as is at the next club meeting.

Even though I didn't finish, it was a great weekend of modelling although I hit the wall at work today.  Almost feel asleep whilst driving the little steam train at work!

Did make an interesting discovery in the course of the blitz.  Tried to quickly paint the boat's stand with a Testor's rattle can which didnt work .  All sorts of puddles and runs,  so it  had to be stripped.   Twenty minutes under a layer of Mr Muscle didn't make a dent in the paint.

Out of the darkest recesses of my memory I came up with the solution that some auto modellers use to strip lacquer paints, brake fluid, 15 mns in a tray of the fluid and the paint came off a treat, nasty stuff to use but great results!

All the best, Mike.
