Martian Attack - Pegasus 1/144
Anthony Martin has selected two very different kits to tackle for the Blitz Build 2010.
The first being the Pegasus Kit of the War of the Worlds Martian Attack in 1/144 Scale.
1800. Great little kit, not many parts. This is the special edition with copper plate ships, look very sexy !!
2230. I have assembled the tanks and given them a nice coat of olive drab. The ship green edges have been painted, will allow the gloss coat to dry overnight. Gave the base a coat of black for the start. Over to the plane for a little while......
Day two.
After some problems associated with fitting the nose and wingtips to the body of the ships, the aliends are now looking close to complete.
The Martians are together, just have to finish the tanks and weather the base. I have built the death-ray and painted it, but not too sure whether to leave it in a Matt finish or to apply a liberal coat of gloss, any pointers fellow nerds?? I am not a boffin on death-rays but I am happy with my orange-yellow-red mix on the finish !!.
Day three.
Late start, had to get the tax return done !!
Well following some excellent advice from Ben Frohling, Mike Nelmes and Gaz Millias I am trying to gloss-up the Death-ray on the Martian Ship........two coats so far, still looks okay.
Day Three... the end
Well I have gone as far as I could with the Martian Attack in the short time I had. I would have liked to have had more time on the Death Ray and find some decals for the tanks, but in the end it looks good for me and completed in the time required.
This was a fun build. I have never done anything like this kit before and I must say it was a blast...get it !!. I am now looking out for the old movie again...must search through my Sci-Fi collection.
Completed the model in Citadel Paints, Mig Pigments and crushed pastels. The name plate completed in Black with 'Mithral Silver' to highlight the letters. The Green tips and nose on each ship was painted with a testors Gloss Candy Green car paint.
