Hi guys,

Newly Minted Editor Anthony has popped out a great read for his first effort... get it here!

As we move into spring in Canberra, it’s time to prepare for the next meeting of the ACT Scale Modellers’ Society, which will be held in the Molonglo Room at the Canberra Club, 45 West Row, Civic, on Wednesday evening, 9 September 2009.

The program for the evening will be as follows:

7.30pm. Admin; The meeting will start as usual at 7.30pm prompt with a short admin session.

8.00pm. Assessments: The September assessments will be the first in the new year for the Modeller of the Year scores and trophy.  Assessments will be conducted between 8.00pm – 8.45pm using the “assessments on demand” concept – judges working together in pairs with no more than three models to assess.  Please get your models on the table on time, fill out your assessment forms and please nominate to be an assessor for the night.  And the Chief Judge has a surprise for all assessors...

8.45pm. Workshop; Runway 13’s Peter Shum will take the lead in a workshop on the art of natural metal finishes with an emphasis on use of the airbrush.  As for most workshops, the emphasis is on sharing our experiences, so please join Peter in this workshop by talking about, or showing off, your natural metal experiences, whether they be successes or disasters.

Theme Display;  Heavy Metal!! Bring along anything displaying a full or partial natural metal finish, of any subject.

10pm. Closure:

Member Traders; We expect to see Shane and Lorna from Sandle Hobbies and Ley Reynolds from Platypus Publications who will tempt us with their wares.  Remember too that if you would like Peter Shum from Runway 13 or John Myszka from Mouse House to bring specific examples of their products to the meeting for you, just contact them beforehand.

Raffle: For the new modelling year, an even larger monster raffle with a whole new range of impressive prizes.

Dinner at the Canberra Club; The Canberra Club chefs will provide a limited-range meal service for us in the Molonglo Room or the dining room on the second floor.

Visitors, family and friends are always welcome, so bring along a potential fellow modeller or enthusiast, and introduce them to the best scale modelling club in town!

LOOKING AHEAD:

October.
For the October meeting, we are delighted to welcome Mr David Gardner, the Director of the RAAF Museum at Point Cook, and WGCDR Mike Warby from Air Force Headquarters, to talk about the search for and discovery of the crash site of the RAAF Canberra lost in 1971 and found in Vietnam earlier this year.  We need your help to provide a background display for their presentation, so please bring along any Canberra models and any other military models from the Vietnam era..

Hi guys, another cracking read in the August Newsletter... Thanks Ed!
The Seppala's have been at it and have now submitted their Blitz Build reports...
